Today we took them for tea at Ty Te Caerdydd, the same teahouse that Lady Di, Princess of Wales, visited during her visit to Gaiman. We started the day by visiting Quinta Narlú on the outskirts of Gaiman, where we bought raspberries and Welsh cake—a very pretty place to visit! From there, we walked into the village and followed the signs that led us to Ty Te Caerdydd Teahouse. We arrived just in time for tea, where we were served scones, artisan bread, ham and cheese sandwiches, Welsh cake, cream cake, apple pie, lemon pie, raspberry and cream cake, pastry frola, and much more. We ate delicious food and it was a lovely experience. This time, we decided to explore the outskirts and visited Quinta Nablus, a farm famous for its fresh fruit, jams, and traditional Welsh cake. We bought a basket of raspberries and a slice of black cake to have a picnic among the fruit trees. The owner, a fourth-generation Welsh descendant, told us the history of the farm and invited us to sample walnuts, hazelnuts, and fruit. The atmosphere is super peaceful: ideal for those looking for nature, local products, and an authentic experience away from the town center. 🥾👟 Walk to the Center and Head to the Tea House After the picnic and lots of chatting with Mrs. Nablus, we returned to the village on foot, a 30-minute walk that allowed us to enjoy the rural surroundings and get some exercise before afternoon tea. Along the way, we followed the signs to Ty Te Caerdydd, the famous Welsh tea house where Lady Di (Princess Diana) had tea during her visit to Argentina. The walk is long but well-signposted, and we even met several friendly dogs who kept us company for a while! 🫖🍞 Experience at Ty Te Caerdydd: The Royal Welsh Tea We arrived at the afternoon tea oasis! The place surprised us with how elegant and well-kept it is, with a water fountain inside and impeccably set tables. We tried the full Welsh tea service: artisan bread, buttered scones, ham and cheese sandwiches, a variety of homemade jams, and an epic selection of cakes and tarts. Among the options, we highlighted the Welsh cake (with raisins, walnuts, and brown sugar), the custard tart (with a taste of afternoon tea), the lemon pie, the chocolate and vanilla sponge cake, the apple tart, and the classic quince paste frola. 🍰✨ Trying All the Cakes: Favorites and Surprises Everyone chose their favorites: the custard tart and the Welsh cake took the most applause, but all were delicious and super fresh. The service was so generous that we ended up taking the leftover slices in a small box for the road and the bus ride back. Service price: 600 pesos per person (around $15 USD), which includes the entire feast of tea, cakes, sandwiches, and pampering. An experience worth every peso and every step! 💡👣 Tips and Advice for Your Visit to Gaiman La Quinta Nablus is about a 30-40 minute walk from the center of Gaiman (or you can take a taxi). Ty Te Caerdydd is not in the center, but it's easy to find by following the signs. Come hungry: they'll give you plenty of food! If you can't finish everything, they'll pack it for you to take with you. Ideal for combining a picnic of fresh fruit and cake in the morning with a traditional Welsh tea in the afternoon.
