How To Fix Honda CB750 Oil Line Leak & Make New Ones [Cafe Racer Engine Leaking Oil Pipe Fix] 29 In this video I replace the leaking oil lines on my project cafe racer CB750. #ad Here's what we used in this video (affiliate links). Now that I have the engine running in my Cafe Racer CB750 project I have found that there is a small oil leak that is coming from the oil lines between the engine and the oil tank. Apart from fitting I have not done anything with these lines, so it isn’t anything that I have done wrong. At first I was hoping that it was simply that the seal where the oil line enters the tank was not nipped up enough, but after investigation I could tell this wasn’t the case. By simply wrapping paper towels around the pipes in different places I could see that the oil was coming from only one pipe, either from where the flexible part joined the metal fastener at the top. Or from the pipe itself just below this. There is some metal braiding around the pipe so it isn’t really possible to see where it was coming from, my bet would be the connection. New oil lines are quite expensive from Honda, and although I am sure that a hydraulic hose company could replace them, this would probably be just as expensive. I wanted a business-like, reliable fix but didn’t want to spend too much. I also decided to replace both, as they were both the same age. Investigation on forums only gave a little indication that some people had fabricated their own lines without too much trouble. I am pretty sure that the pressure in these lines is not too extreme, and thinking back to the oil lines on the old Triumph twins I have had, they did not have high pressure hoses doing the same job. I decided to make up my own oil lines, using the right kind of reinforced rubber tubing and jubilee clips. If you watch the video you will see that the hardest part of the job was cutting the old lines off the connectors. I did this with an angle grinder, and one of the lines was a lot easier to do than the other. If I was doing the job again I would make the outer hose a little longer, maybe 1 cm or so, but I don’t think it will be a problem as it is. I suspect I will not have any problem with these hoses so I don’t intend to be taking them off soon. If I do have to have the engine out or the oil tank off, I may make a slightly longer hose.
