Cleaning The Oil Filter On The Honda CB175 / CB200 Family Of Motorcycles

Changing your oil and cleaning your oil filter is the first step in your standard tune-up procedure when working on your Honda CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 vintage motorcycle. This must be performed every 1500 miles (2400 km) alongside setting your cam chain tensioner, valve clearances, and ignition timing. In this video, we go over the proper way to drain your oil, remove the oil filter cap, replace the troublesome JIS bolts, and clean and put everything back together. If you have never taken the opportunity to clean and inspect the centrifugal oil filter on your Honda we would highly recommend opening and inspecting the engine oil filter and thoroughly cleaning before riding the motorcycle. At Common Motor we find that learning how to perform the standard tune-up procedures on your Honda CB175 and CB200 family of motorcycles is essential knowledge and a great way to build confidence to get into other repairs on your motorcycle.
