a day trip to otaru from sapporo - hokkaido vlog part 3 - canal, shopping, food, shrine

I took a day trip on the train from Sapporo to Otaru and enjoyed exploring this small seaside town on a sunny day. If you're looking for some inspiration of what to do in Otaru, I hope my vlog can help you with some ideas of places to go in Otaru! We started off our day exploring some retro shopping streets then headed to try some of Otaru's specialty, crab! It was my first time trying crab, I had a bao filled with it from a steamed bun restaurant at Otaru's famous ramen alley, Denuki Koji. After that we headed the Otaru canal and walked along the bridges taking in the brightly coloured buildings and artists who were set up along the canal. We then enjoyed looking around and shopping, with a stop at the Music Box Museum to buy some locally made glass souvenirs. After a stroll by the sea, we finished our day off by visiting a peaceful and serene shrine atop a hill where we found rows of tori gates and a fountain covered in floating flowers. Although I was only there for a day, it was a really lovely trip and I can't wait to go back.
