Meanwhile, the German Luftwaffe struggled for years with the limitations of older versions of the aircraft, and the Typhoon itself regularly lost export competition to American designs. Will the new Eurofighter Tranche 4 reverse this situation? In this article, I discuss the first flight of the German aircraft developed under the Quadriga program, the ECRS Mk.1 AESA radar, planned armament, and the Typhoon's role alongside the F-35. I also examine the reported 9-0 victory over the Pakistani J-10CE during an exercise in Qatar—and explain why the results of mock combat should not be taken as definitive proof of a single fighter's superiority.
