De kolonie purperreigers in de Zouweboezem #1756

Want to go birdwatching here too? You can find practical info at: https://www.visdief.nl/vogels-kijken-... The colony of purple herons in the Zouweboezem. You can view them from the quay between the bird hide and the windmill, but the distance to the colony is quite large from there. You can also view the colony from the Zouwedijk. That is a bit closer, but the downside is the traffic that sometimes rushes past. So, keep an eye out, in both senses of the verb. Watch out for the traffic and watch out for the purple herons. In mid-June, the juveniles stand in the treetops and look out over the area. They undertake short test flights to exercise their wing muscles. And the parent birds fly back and forth to feed their young. It is very fascinating to watch. Once again: watch out for the traffic! And also pay attention to other bird species you might see there.
