We visited an open day at one of the Amsterdam universities with our daughter, so we passed through Delft on the way. My daughter continued by train, while we went for a bird walk behind the IKEA. And we enjoyed it immensely, because the spoonbills were sitting less than twenty meters in front of us and paid no attention to us whatsoever. They stood on their nests, occasionally tugged at a branch, flew up and returned, snarled at each other a bit, and flaunted their feathers. It is a miracle that the spoonbills found this park and chose it as their nesting site. But of course, it is nice for us birdwatchers, because the birds show themselves perfectly well from the bike path. Naturally, we turned it into a complete bird walk, so we also kept an eye out for all the park birds we encountered.
