The Business of Keeping Us Angry
Over the last few days I’ve found myself thinking about anger. Not just angry comments online, but the way outrage seems to have become part of modern life. The news wants us alarmed. Social media rewards strong reactions. Algorithms know that anger keeps us scrolling, clicking and sharing. And yet here I am, parked in the Wiltshire countryside, surrounded by ancient landscapes, drinking tea and wondering whether all this outrage is making any of us happier. In this video I talk about social media, news headlines, Facebook community groups, working life, targets, fear, and the strange way anger seems to have become a commodity. Most of all, I talk about the alternative. Quiet. Space. Perspective. And the importance of deciding what we allow into our minds each day. Put the kettle on and join me for a chat.
