Feeling Rich at 58 | My Future Plans, Van Life & Rethinking Home
Today I’m chatting about my future plans… and why, at 58, I feel richer than I ever have — even though I’m living simply and fairly frugally. After leaving corporate life, living solo, selling my house, and building a small income through social media, I’ve found myself standing at a real fork in the road. Do I buy bricks and mortar again and follow the more traditional path? Or do I choose something a little different? In this video I talk honestly about the pros and cons of both — owning a home, the costs and responsibilities that come with it… but also the freedom I feel with Romi, my campervan, and the possibilities that come with living more lightly. I also share my growing curiosity around alternative ways of living: van life, narrowboats, houseboats, tiny homes, and people who have created a life outside the usual model. My plan, for now, feels like a hybrid one — using Romi for round trips around the UK, returning to base when I need to, and staying open to whatever comes next. For the first time in my life, I feel like I have something incredibly valuable: time, choice, freedom, and space to decide what life might look like next. And to me… that feels rich. If you live an alternative lifestyle — or are considering one — I’d love to hear from you in the comments. Julia x
