Comment nos ancêtres savaient-ils l'heure qu'il était ? | Franck Ferrand
You check the time dozens of times a day without giving it a second thought. But for centuries, nobody knew what time it was—and nobody complained. Before clocks, time was measured with graduated candles, hourglasses, and water clocks. People knew an hour had passed, but they didn't know if it was 2 or 3 p.m. And until the 14th century, no city in France had a public clock. But there's something even more surprising: until 1875, Strasbourg and Brest didn't share the same time. Each city calculated the time based on its own sun. It was the train that changed everything—forcing all of France to adopt Paris time. This channel is a place for stories, history, and sharing, in a spirit of connection.
