Cuando el rayo cae dos veces | Carmen Amoraga Toledo | TEDxValencia
Is there a limit to the amount of misfortune? Can life strike more than once with the same devastating force? Carmen Amoraga uses Miguel Hernández's verse "a lightning bolt that never ceases" to question an uncomfortable truth: pain knows no bounds, and sometimes it returns to where it has already been. In this talk, Amoraga intertwines literary references with a true story that marked all of Valencia: that of a family who lost their father during the DANA storm, years after having also lost their daughter. A double blow impossible to explain, but necessary to consider. Through her narrative perspective, Amoraga invites us to reflect on how we live with suffering, what we do with the wounds that return, and where we find the thread that allows us to move forward when life insists on testing us. A writer and journalist, she holds a degree in Information Sciences and has experience in various media outlets. She is the author of novels such as *Para que nada se pierda*, *La larga noche*, *Algo tan parecido al amor*, *El tiempo mientras tanto*, and *La vida era eso*, for which she won the Nadal Prize in 2014. She has also had a distinguished institutional career as head of culture and director general of Culture and Heritage for the Valencian Regional Government. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
