Presencias Literarias en la Universidad de Cádiz: Ignacio Echevarría dialoga con Fran G. Matute.
On Friday, October 6, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Constitución 1812 building, writer, editor, and literary critic Ignacio Echevarría was the featured guest at the latest installment of the Literary Presences program at the University of Cádiz. The event, organized by the University Extension Service of the Vice-Rectorate for Culture at the University of Cádiz and the Carlos Edmundo de Ory Foundation, was sponsored by the Unicaja Foundation and held in collaboration with the Manuel de Falla Bookstore. Echevarría was introduced and interviewed by Fran G. Matute, a cultural critic specializing in music, film, and literature. Ignacio Echevarría (Barcelona, 1960), a graduate in Philology from the University of Barcelona, is an editorial specialist, columnist, and lecturer. He is also a literary critic, and his work in this field has been partially compiled in the volumes "Trayecto. Un recorrido crítico por la reciente narrativa española" (2005), "Desvíos. Un recorrido crítico por la reciente narrativa latinoamericana" (2006), "Una vocación de editor, breve semblanza del editor Claudio López de Lamadrid" (2020), and "El nivel alcanzar: notas sobre libros y autores extranjeros" (2021). He has spearheaded, among others, always adhering to very demanding standards, the complete works of Nicanor Parra, Juan Carlos Onetti, Franz Kafka, and Elias Canetti. For Círculo de Lectores, he coordinated the Biblioteca Universal, and for more than two decades, under the direction of Francisco Rico, he has also coordinated the Biblioteca Clásica of the Royal Spanish Academy. He has edited works by authors such as Roberto Bolaño, Juan Benet, Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, Juan Marsé, and Belén Gopegui. Currently, he writes a weekly column for the book magazine El Cultural.
