Kingdom Hearts II FM [PS3] Commentary #042, Underdrome Rising; Atlantica (1): A Musical Challenge

This is video #042 in my playthrough of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, part of the Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMIX. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here:    • Kingdom Hearts II FM [PS3] Playthrough #04...   Previously, after the party had cleared the Timeless River, Sora leveled up Valor and Wisdom Forms to the new level cap of 4. A few new events became available after the completion of the Timeless River. First, the party heads over to Olympus Coliseum (time 0:29). The event takes place as they land in the Underworld Entrance (time 0:57). The Underdrome has appeared, and Auron arrives to provide a bit of backstory. He doesn't stick around long, though. Hades' little lackeys show up to provide admission to the Underworld's coliseum. The Pain and Panic Cup is now available at the Underdrome, but I don't feel quite ready to take it on yet. Things have not changed back up on the surface. Afterwards, they go through the Splash Island Gummi Route to get to Atlantica northwest of Disney Castle (time 5:59). Completing this unlocks Mission Levels 1 and 2, and the party gets the Highwind Lv. 4 Blueprint. When the route is clear, the party heads down to Atlantica (time 11:27). As we arrive, there is a scene with Ariel, the little mermaid herself, on the ocean's surface (time 11:42). After the scene, the party arrives under the sea (time 13:30). As in Kingdom Hearts, they have been transformed into sea creatures, but Sora seems to have forgotten how to play merman. Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian arrive and offer to give him some practice. After the scenes, we get a tutorial on controlling Sora in Atlantica (time 14:33). It's a little better than it was in the original Kingdom Hearts, and this time, we don't have to worry about irritating undersea battles. The objective for now is to talk to Flounder (time 15:58). Fortunately, there is no need to tag him repeatedly. This triggers a scene. Sebastian asks the party to help out in his musical production. In this game, Atlantica is home to a series of interesting musical challenges, some of which are set to the amazing music from "The Little Mermaid." The introductory minigame is "A Musical Challenge" (time 17:21). This is a tutorial in pressing X at the right time. This one is pretty easy to clear. Another scene will take place after the minigame (time 19:43). The party gets the Undersea Kingdom Map. Low in the eastern part of the Undersea Courtyard, there is a "Duality" Puzzle Piece (time 21:45). This piece goes in the upper-left corner of the puzzle, rotated so that DiZ's head is in the lower left and the piece of Kingdom Hearts is in the lower right.
