In a conversation with political analyst Yuriy Romanenko, MP Dmytro Razumkov translates the abstract "societal fatigue" into unsettling numbers. It all begins with an alarming observation: war creates the most dangerous type of people—those who have nothing left to lose. According to Razumkov, law enforcement is recording a radicalization of sentiments in certain social groups, and the relevant agencies have already reported it to the authorities. Analyst Vitaliy Kulik, whom he quotes, put it more bluntly: "it smells like a cardboard Maidan." Razumkov doesn't argue, adding that it smells more than just cardboard. The guest then explains why the phrase "the people are tired," so disliked by the authorities, is not a figure of speech. People are tired of living in a regime where every day could be their last, where tomorrow neither their home nor their loved ones may be gone. But the most concentrated example of this fatigue is the hysteria surrounding the shopping center. Here, Razumkov takes out a calculator. Leaving the TCC today costs from ten thousand dollars, while a "white ticket" costs from fifty, depending on the region. He estimates the shadow budget of the regional centers at approximately 3 billion euros per year—that's more than 160 billion hryvnias. If this money were spent on the army, and each person willing to serve was paid a million, that would amount to 160,000 fighters. Another calculation: about 80,000 contract soldiers, with normal salaries, would cover approximately a third of the combat units' needs. A separate blow is to the personnel of the TCCs themselves. Zelenskyy promised that only those who had served on the front lines would serve there. According to data cited by Razumkov, only about 39 percent actually served on the front lines; the rest did not. Send 30,000 of them to the front, he says, and you'll have an entire corps—five or six brigades. The final part of the segment describes how the conflict with the TCC evolved step by step: first, there were lines at the military recruitment offices, then people were told they weren't needed, then problems, discontent, clashes began, and today it's reached the point where TCC employees are being beaten and weapons and grenades are being used. Razumkov asks the awkward question—what's next—while emphasizing that he's not calling anyone to anything. He formulates his diagnosis harshly: the TCC has become an untouchable caste. He gives an example he's worked through with lawyers: a group of people in a minibus hits a man, throws him into a car, drives him away, and steals his phone. Legally, this is a traffic accident, kidnapping, imprisonment, and with a weapon, it's also robbery. For any citizen, it's life imprisonment. "And for the TCC workers, it's a bonus and a chance to avoid being sent to the front themselves."
