Children found soldiers' bodies in local rivers: someone lacked the strength to swim across, and they drowned. People froze to death in the forest during training. People went to the Special Forces because they couldn't take it anymore – there was no other way to escape this system. Meanwhile, the colonel, whose last name Cherny still doesn't know, found the strength for something else: the car of an undesirable instructor was not allowed onto the premises on principle—anywhere a spoke in the wheel could be thrown, it was always thrown. The human mechanics of this system are also revealing: even those who publicly spoke out against Cherny later wrote to him privately, and everyone ratted on each other. Fear and mutual responsibility persist until the first opportune moment. A separate issue is the sanitary horror that the instructor spoke about a year ago, in 2025. A man with tuberculosis and hepatitis was distributing food. Another distributor had blood from psoriasis dripping directly into the food. People were dying—and no one could do anything about it. Now, with Ombudsman Lubinets speaking out about these facts, the issue has become a hot topic. Cherny's question is simple: why only now, if this has always been the case? And here the instructor makes an important generalization, worth watching the entire segment for: the problem isn't just two damned regiments. Dig a little deeper into any brigade that's at zero—be it the 3rd Assault Brigade or any other—and you'll see the same deplorable state. The outcry surrounding individual names creates the illusion that the problem is local. It's systemic. At the same time, Cherny's position is far from blanket condemnation. He's against writing everyone off: in these same brigades, there are guys who still have to go into battle and sacrifice themselves, and they can't be devalued. We need analysis, investigation, and punishment for those who contributed to the massive casualty rate during exercises—but punishment for the guilty, not vilification. Just now, the instructor adds, his acquaintances from these units conducted a successful operation near Kazachya Lopan. An army in which a soldier can die before reaching the front, and is forbidden to speak about it, is a diagnosis not of the regiments, but of the system.
