However, in the second half of the night, the winter Milky Way slowly fades away. The constellations Canis Major, Monoceros, and Gemini mark this transition. But even here, it's worth taking a look – because even in this part of the Milky Way, you can find exciting, sometimes spectacular, deep-sky objects, such as the Rosette Nebula or the Cone Nebula. Modern sky surveys like the Northern Sky Narrowband Survey show that the region between Monoceros and Gemini is a particularly fascinating area of ​​the sky. There lies one of the largest known supernova remnants: the Monogem SNR. Part of this presumably gigantic ring is the so-called DNA Nebula – a relatively recent astrophotographic discovery.
