Excavating another bolder

Whilst climbing through the laurel removing bracken something caught my attention, on further investigation buried deep in the undergrowth was another large bolder, so I did what any man would do and decided to reveal it. I started by clearing myself an area to work, piling all the branches in a convenient dip in the ground, once I could access the boulder I started clearing the years of ivy and leaf litter covering it, I soon revealed the shape but decided I needed to go further. I started digging away at the soil, pulling it over to cover the branches I had previously cut, this not only revealed the rock face but also created a nice level area of ground. After about 1 hour of clearing I gave the boulder a good brush off and stood back to appreciate my efforts, I think the boulder is a wonderful feature in the landscape and if viewed from the right angle looks like a turtles head. I would like to make the level area a bit larger in the future as it will make a great seating area, I will have to remove the laurels at some point so it should get some great views, but unfortunately that will have to wait until later in the year.
