We shall be bringing you all the racing action live from circuit-side! After a captivating opening round at Watkins Glen, we have made our way to Australia for Bathurst. Known formally as the “Mount Panorama Circuit” in reference to the mountain on which it sits, the home of the Intercontinental GT Challenge 12 Hour race is a tough track to crack. With the majority of its 23 corners situated on a narrow public road which takes drivers across the mountain, overtaking here is typically only seen on its extended straights making it a 3.86 mile course where track position and strategy are critical to victory! In the PREMIER class, whilst he was closely matched in qualifying by Liam Fraser in the fight for pole position, no one could out-smart Menno Bloem on strategy at The Glen as he took his first win ahead of the Moonshiners Racing Club duo of Dean Sheasby and Fraser. Yet, with a very different style of circuit and mixed conditions expected today, can Bloem make it back-to-back wins? Or will we see someone else take to the spotlight? In the CLUB class, last week’s trip to the USA revealed that we have plenty of shining stars in the class. Michele Salcuni was one of the brightest with his phenomenal pole lap only being outshone in the race by Joshua Downing’s insatiable pace which resulted in the pair making contact and Downing coming away victorious. Also, do not forget Michael Rhodes’s incredible recovery drive to second place, and we can expect even more from our drivers today! Who shall sit atop Mount Panorama as King of the Mountain?
