The Pike are HUNGRY on the Des Plaines River!
I decided after exploring the Fox River for the past 2 weekends to head back to my ol' stomping grounds again on the DPR. With only 1 rod and a Mepps Aglia inline spinner tied onto a wire leader, I waded out expecting to catch lots of smallmouth but ended up catching several pike including the biggest one I've ever hooked into that tragically got off right at the net! Ended up with a few other species as well. I'm glad I decided to venture into some new territory on the river, otherwise I would never have even imagined the river held pike that big near me!
