Spectacular Gorges & Dead Ends: The Seventeen Bridges Ride

Why "Seventeen Bridges"? Well, I had the song "Seven Bridges Road" stuck in my head for most of the ride, and before I trimmed the video down, I crossed about seventeen of them! What started as a standard commute between Palmerston North and Hawke's Bay turned into one of the most spectacular rides I've had in ages. I decided to deviate from my usual route and explore some dead-end roads, and the payoff was huge. Ride Highlights: Ridge Road: As the name suggests, the views from the top were incredible. Rangitane Road: A dead-end detour offering great views of the river valley. Lord of the Rings Location: Crossing the massive Rangitikei River Gorge (the filming location for the River Anduin). Mokai Bridge: I didn't expect this to be as impressive as the main gorge, but travelling to the end of Mokai Road offered stunning views of the canyon.
