Analyzing the Second Double Corner opening: instructional points from start to finish!
The Second Double Corner opening is a great defense against Old Faithful, and is seen across all classes of checkers players. This particular variation is from the M.E. Pomeroy-Alfred Jordan unrestricted world champion match from the early 1900s. The game follows standard published play, however, the 10-14 as played by Pomeroy deviates from the usual 9-14 exchange, and exciting play ensues! There are several instructive mid game and end game positions throughout, and hopefully you will be able to use some of the ideas and themes in your own games.
