A calm day in Japan, starting with a simple Japanese breakfast at home 🇯🇵 Today I’m making a traditional-style breakfast with salmon onigiri and nameko miso soup, followed by a quiet grocery shopping trip and an easy, budget-friendly dinner at home. Food prices in Japan have been rising recently, so I try to make simple and balanced meals with what I can find. Even small choices can make a difference in everyday cooking. ⸻ 🍰 About Baumkuchen Baumkuchen is originally from Germany, but it has become a very popular dessert in Japan. Its layered ring shape symbolizes longevity and prosperity, so it’s often given as a gift for celebrations. Today I chose a special one as a small treat. ⸻ 🍲 Easy tofu sukiyaki-style recipe Instead of using expensive beef, I used sliced pork and tofu to make a simple and satisfying meal. Tearing tofu by hand helps the flavor soak in better — a small tip, but it makes a difference. ⸻ I enjoy sharing these small moments of daily life in Japan and the little differences in culture.
