Dell Design their PCs to Generate Waste - Here's how to Re-use the Parts Instead

I was tasked with scrapping two Dell OptiPlex 3010 computers. Mine were the SFF versions which are full of proprietary parts! My main goal was to reuse the power supply though I managed to reuse or recycle everything from both machines. The process took far longer than intended and far longer than I'd wanted it to. Simply put I bought an old server case to transfer the parts in to, not realising nothing about the case was standard. Still, I persevered and in the end built a working computer with a lot of e-waste parts. Should you tackle something like this yourself, have a plan for the parts and research the machine you intend to put them in. I didn't and it caused me a lot of headache. Still, that fact shouldn't put you off. Most things that are worth doing aren't easy. I learnt a lot and I'm wiser for having carried out this debacle!
