General Santos City June 10, 2026 Following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao on 8 June 2026, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assessed the situation on the ground to ensure that government response efforts effectively address the immediate needs of affected communities. During his visit to General Santos City on 10 June 2026, the President conducted a series of inspections, including St. Elizabeth Hospital, Romana C. Acharon Central Elementary School, and General Santos City National High School. “So we are continuing to help work together with the local government. The congresswoman is here. Nandito ‘yung mga barangay chairman. We are continuing to work with them closely to make sure that all the needs, ‘yung immediate needs ng mga naging biktima ay matulungan natin kaagad,” the President remarked in his media statement. Prior to the inspection, President Marcos Jr. immediately directed all concerned government agencies to work around the clock to ensure the timely delivery of relief assistance to the hardest-hit and most remote communities. Government interventions include support for the welfare of hospital patients, the provision of water and food supplies, and other necessary assistance to help affected residents recover from the earthquake's impact.
