Hip Flexors: Unlocked
Hip flexor problems can wreak all kinds of havoc on your body as well as negatively impacting your form in the boat. Tight and/or shortened hip flexors typically manifests as low back pain, but also makes it challenging to engage your abdominal muscles, thus pulling on your low back vertebrae in the drive phase of your stroke. Weak hip flexors decrease your ability to tip the pelvis forward as you move out of the finish and start toward the catch. Laura, PT and yoga teacher leads you in this class to find the hip flexors in your body, release their tension, and lengthen and strengthen these important muscles that connect the lower body to your torso. **You will need a small ball (tennis ball or lacrosse ball) in addition to your normal yoga props for a short self massage to your hip flexors.
