Easdale Island - Slate Islands - Inner Hebrides-

Just around 15 miles south of Oban on the west coast of Scotland are a group of islands known as as the Slate islands, Easdale Island was in fact the centre of the slate industry in Scotland, it’s accessible via a small open top ferry, from Ellenabeich with a travel time of less than 5 minutes. A fabulous little island with some great views from the 360 hike around which can take as little as an hour, although you’d want to take time to explore & take in the scenery. The mines have been flooded for many years and are now used on occasion for open water wild swimming & deep diving as they descend from 30-100metres .. the world Stone-skimming championships are also held here annually, which will no doubt be quite a spectacle. All in all a great island to visit, also taking in a trip over Clachan Bridge ( often referred to as the Bridge over the Atlantic )
