Anastasio Somoza Jr., the youngest of the brothers, was the last in line to rule and the only one still alive to see the end of his wealthy empire, which they governed for over 40 years, bringing economic development and political conflict, while becoming the richest family in Central America. All of this was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the United States, a country that had militarily occupied Nicaragua several times and left the Somozas as its trusted family in the country.
