Magistrate Aslanian and his daughter, Iuliana, take refuge on a deserted and isolated beach to escape an imminent danger: the judge had received two anonymous death threats. In this secluded place there is a small group of bizarre characters, each with hidden motives or a history related to the magistrate's past trials: Marcel Ionescu: An old watchmaker who claims to be Mendel Drumaru, a man unjustly convicted by Aslanian, who has arrived to take revenge. Cezar: An aggressive individual, with a criminal record and physical features considered "criminal". The cabin manager: A former front-line colonel whom the magistrate forgave in the past, but whom Aslanian believes will kill him out of pride. Val: An eccentric young man who mysteriously emerges from the sea with a tape recorder in his hand and brings with him the third threatening letter. Nick (Nicolae Filipescu Ilfov): Iuliana's ambitious fiancé. The magistrate organizes a joint discussion on the beach to study his suspects and anticipate his executioner. During the evening, a sudden power outage occurs, and taking advantage of the darkness, someone fatally stabs the magistrate. Immediately after the murder, the fiancé Nick takes charge of the investigation. He subtly manipulates the evidence to incriminate the others: he pushes the manager to commit suicide due to fright and directly accuses the watchmaker Ionescu, demonstrating that the letters in the threats were cut out of the old man's newspaper. Everything seems to point to a plot organized by the "freak club" on the beach. The complete turnaround comes from Val. He had recovered the tape recorder that he had left on the beach the night of the murder. The audiotape had recorded the victim's last conversation: the real killer is Nick himself. The magistrate had discovered that Nick was in reality a dangerous pimp and a murderer, forbidding him from ever getting close to Iuliana. In order to save his position and not be denounced, Nick had planned everything, using the threatening letters and the past of others to mask his own crime. The play ends with Nick's definitive unmasking and Iuliana's symbolic rescue from this circle of death.
