Making Homemade Vanilla Extract & Vanilla Bean Paste

Making your own Vanilla Extract and Vanilla Bean Paste is not only a game-changer, but it is also extremely rewarding! First of all, it is significantly more cost-effective, and secondly, the taste is definitely far superior to anything you can buy in the shops! Join me in my kitchen today as I use up some alcohol and make three different vanilla extracts and a large jar of vanilla bean paste, or liquid gold, as I like to think of it! You can find the measurements for each of these below, as well as the link to the vanilla beans I used. This is not an affiliate link, and any vanilla bean would work; just make sure it is Grade A. Vanilla Extract For every cup of alcohol, use 5-8 whole vanilla bean pods. Split the vanilla pods down the middle and add to a jar or bottle along with the alcohol of your choice. Place somewhere dark and shake often. After 6 months, you will have a wonderful vanilla extract (though you can use it before this). If you can wait 12 months, the extract will have aged and become far more syrupy and aromatic. Vanilla Bean Paste 200g granulated sugar 160ml cup of vodka 2tbsp glucose syrup or golden syrup 50g vanilla beans Blend all the ingredients together until all the bean pods are completely broken down.
