A bridge in the middle of a controversy. The fact is that the structure is no longer where it should be. In Prados, 190 km from Belo Horizonte, the disappearance of a nearly 180-year-old metal bridge has transformed the tranquility of the city into a police case. A part of the old Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas railway, the structure was part of the region's history and disappeared at the beginning of this month. The forensic investigation found evidence of planning: truck tracks, backhoes, cut trees, and blocked access. According to the investigation, the farm owner allegedly sold the bridge to an antique dealer, who then resold it to a tourism business. One of those involved stated that "the removal took place on June 3rd, with extensive logistics, scouts, special transport documentation, and even an escort from the Military Environmental Police." For the State Public Prosecutor's Office, the main question now is not who removed the bridge, but who believed they had the right to sell it. The prosecutor states that if the structure is federal property, the case will fall under the jurisdiction of the Federal Court. The Prados City Hall reported that it is monitoring the investigations, the Federal Police said it does not comment on ongoing investigations, and the Military Police did not respond to the reporter's contact. The bridge was located in Conceição de Ibitipoca, a district of Lima Duarte, also in Minas Gerais. Now, the expectation is that the historical landmark will return to its original location. When asked if this will happen, the prosecutor replied: "Oh, it will return. It will return. Even if it has to arrive on their backs.
