Human wisdom naturally expects power, philosophy, military strength, political influence, or moral achievement to be the means by which the world is changed. But God chose what appeared weak and foolish—a crucified Christ—to accomplish the greatest victory in history. That is why Paul said, “None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8). Satan and the powers of this world believed the crucifixion was Christ’s defeat, but it became their destruction. Through death, Christ destroyed death.
