Becoming a Voice, Not an Echo! | John 1:19–23 | Rev. Dr. Samuel T. Koshy | City Harvest AG Church Sermon Transcript: https://cityharvestag.com/sermons/bec... Our generation is in a constant search for meaning and purpose, often placing self at the center of everything. But we must remember, as John the Baptist so humbly displayed, that our purpose is not to elevate ourselves, but to point others to Christ. The purpose of our voice is not self-glorification, but to prepare the way for the Lord, to be witnesses of His grace, and to direct others towards Him. John the Baptist understood that he was not the light; he was a reflector of the light. He knew his role and purpose clearly: to prepare hearts for the coming Messiah. His life was a beautiful example of humility and servitude. In our generation, we are called to do the same — to be a voice that prepares the way for the Lord in the hearts of the people around us. We must ask ourselves: are we using our voice to exalt Christ, or are we more concerned with our own fame, reputation, or recognition? John the Baptist knew that his time in the spotlight was temporary. He knew that Christ must increase, and he must decrease. It is a reminder for us to lay aside our self-interest and allow Christ to be the center of our message. In Conclusion: The Uniqueness of Our Voice: Your voice is unique and divinely crafted. Don’t settle for being an echo of someone else. God created you with a specific voice that has the power to impact lives. The Space for Our Voice: There is a specific sphere where God has placed you. Identify your area of influence, where your voice can be heard most effectively. What is your holy discontent? Where does God stir your heart to make a difference? The Purpose of Our Voice: Our voice should always point people to Jesus. In all that we say and do, let us remember that we are called to lead others to the One who can change their lives. We are not the light, but we are called to reflect the light of Christ. Let us be bold and courageous like John the Baptist, using our voice to prepare the way for the Lord in our generation. May we be a VOICE FOR GOD, not an echo, in a world that desperately needs to hear the message of hope, repentance, and salvation.
