Koshy | CHAG • Sermon Series on 2 Samuel Sermon Outline : TWO TABLES THAT SPEAK OF GRACE 2 SAMUEL 9:1-13, LUKE 15:11-32 | DR. SAMUEL T. KOSHY Texts: • 2 Samuel 9:1–13 – David and Mephibosheth • Luke 15:11–32 – The Prodigal Son Introduction: Let’s compare two stories that highlight grace—and draw lessons for us as fathers. Both Mephibosheth and the Prodigal Son were broken and unworthy, yet invited to a Table of Grace. 1. GRACE WELCOMES 2 Samuel 9:3 – Luke 15:20 – “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet. ” “His father saw him and was filled with compassion... ” 2. GRACE RESTORES 2 Samuel 9:7 – Luke 15:22 – “You will always eat at my table. ” “Bring the best robe… a ring… sandals. ” 3. GRACE CELEBRATES 2 Samuel 9:13 – Luke 15:24 – celebrate. ” “Mephibosheth… always ate at the king’s table. ” “This son… was dead and is alive again… So they began to Application: Let us be fathers who reflect God’s grace: 1. Lead with compassion, not just conditions. 2. Speak life, not just law. 3. Love our children not for performance—but because they belong. _________________________ What do King David’s invitation to Mephibosheth and the Father’s embrace of the Prodigal Son have in common? Both stories reveal the heart of God’s grace—a grace that welcomes, restores, and celebrates. In this powerful Father’s Day message, Dr. Samuel T. Koshy walks us through 2 Samuel 9:1–13 and Luke 15:11–32, reminding us that no matter how broken or unworthy we feel, God invites us to sit at His Table of Grace. Whether you are a father, son, or daughter, this message will encourage you to: Lead with compassion, not just conditions. Speak life, not just law. Love without demanding performance—because we belong to Him. Join us at City Harvest AG Church as we reflect on the love of the Father and the beauty of grace.
