Dugway Geode Beds 💎 What the Ice Age Left Behind

My sister Julie and I drove fifty miles of dirt road into the Utah West Desert on the old Pony Express Trail to dig up geodes at the legendary Dugway Geode Beds, one of the most unique rockhounding spots on the planet. These crystals formed inside volcanic bubbles six to eight million years ago, got carried miles away by ancient Lake Bonneville, and have been sleeping underground ever since. We brought shovels. We brought picks. We dug. And on the way home, the West Desert gave us one more gif, a stunning encounter with the wild Onaqui horses running free across the sage.
