Amethyst Vent at Topaz Mountain | + UV Minerals

The first trip to Topaz Mountain, Utah was a case study involving deep field exploration and a presentation on topaz formation in rhyolite domes. This trip is about applying everything learned in a second visit to the most productive area found. What makes this visit really special is the discovery of an amethyst vent which produced mineral combinations with topaz, fluorite, calcite, and chalcedony. Knowing that an ultraviolet light would come in handy, multicoloured chalcedony crystals were also found scattered across the lava dome. This two-day trip took place during winter of 2025.
