After reacting to so many incredible BAND-MAID songs, there was one thing I still hadn't heard... A true power ballad. That's exactly what I was hoping Daydreaming would be... ...and it absolutely delivered. From the opening clean guitar with that beautiful delay effect, I knew this was going to be something special. The atmosphere pulled me in immediately, and SAIKI's silky, emotional vocal performance made it almost impossible to think about anything else. In fact... I completely lost track of where I was in the song because every section was so mesmerizing. One thing BAND-MAID continues to amaze me with is their songwriting. They're masters of making tiny changes that completely change the emotion of a song. They'll add one extra beat before a transition, slightly change a fill, or tweak the rhythm just enough to create suspense without you even realizing why it works so well. The production on this track is gorgeous. I loved that clap-like snare sound during the verses and all the subtle production touches that gave the song so much space without taking away from the emotion. Then the chorus arrived... And it wasn't what I expected at all. Instead of exploding into a predictable rock chorus, it stayed emotional, elegant, and incredibly tasteful. It felt like the band was serving the song instead of trying to impress anyone with technicality. That's what makes this one so powerful. Every note feels intentional. Every transition feels earned. Every emotion feels real. I honestly couldn't stop imagining thousands of fans singing along with tears in their eyes at a live show. This is one of those songs that reminds you why music matters.
