Scotland Yard Afternoon Tea - A Hidden Gem

Today I'm visiting the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in the heart of London to experience its famous afternoon tea. For those unfamiliar with the name, Scotland Yard was the headquarters of London's Metropolitan Police and became one of the most famous police organisations in the world. The term "Scotland Yard" became synonymous with detective work, criminal investigations and some of Britain's most notorious cases. The hotel now occupies part of this historic site and still celebrates its policing heritage throughout the building. During my visit I explored displays featuring historic police uniforms, helmets, truncheons, keys and other memorabilia linked to the early days of London's police force. It's a fascinating glimpse into a piece of British history that helped shape modern policing around the world. The afternoon tea itself includes a selection of savouries featuring cucumber sandwiches, a ham and roasted carrot double-decker sandwich, an aubergine puff pastry, leek and pancetta quiche, and smoked salmon. This is followed by freshly baked fruit scones served with clotted cream and raspberry jam, together with a selection of beautifully presented cakes and pastries. But how good is the food? Is the experience worth the price? And does the history make this one of London's most unique afternoon teas? Join me as I put the Great Scotland Yard Afternoon Tea to the test.
