Key to the overall design was to connect the attic storage, previously only accessible by a common exterior staircase, to the rest of the apartment by way of an internal staircase and changing the storage into the bedroom. The internal staircase is housed inside a central floor-to-ceiling oak veneer storage wall, which also extends into the bedroom forming the balustrade with integrated shelves. The storage wall consists of plenty of closed as well as open storage spaces on the edges, accessible from multiple sides. The new kitchen was shifted out to the open space which includes a combined dining room, freeing up space to transform the old kitchen space into an office.
