A Simple Rural House Built for Harsh Weather
On an exposed rural site near Fish Creek, Horizon House by Neil Architecture responds to wind, weather, fire conditions and long views across Corner Inlet and Wilsons Promontory. The house is defined by a simple horizontal form, robust external materials and a warm interior palette of blackbutt timber, polished concrete and soft green tones. Clad in UniCote Lux Corten Red, the exterior was selected for durability, low maintenance and its ability to sit quietly within the surrounding landscape. What results is a home that feels both bold and protected: durable from the outside, warm from within, and carefully shaped for long-term life on the hill. 00:00 – Introduction to Horizon House 00:38 – Views Over the Landscape 01:50 – Simplicity of the Design 03:01 – Layout of this Rural House 03:46 – Warm Minimalist Internally 05:49 – Use of UniCote Lux Cladding 07:42 – A Generational Home 08:35 – Sustainability in Fish Creek House 09:13 – Enriching Life Website article – https://simpledwelling.net/features/h...
