Appalachian Trail: Carver’s Gap to 19E (Justin gave me the surprise of my life on Hump Mountain)

We set off from Carvers Gap for a one-night backpacking trip across the stunning Roan Highlands, soaking in some of the most breathtaking views the Appalachian Mountains have to offer. 🌄 Day 1 took us 11 miles over rolling balds and endless mountain views, with wildflowers absolutely everywhere—one of the most vibrant displays we’ve ever seen. From delicate blooms tucked into the grass to entire hillsides bursting with color, this trail was pure magic. But the most unforgettable moment? At the top of Hump Mountain, Justin completely surprised me and asked me to marry him… and of course, I said YES. 💍❤️ A moment I’ll never forget, in a place that already felt so special. We finished out the trip with a shorter 3-mile hike down to 19E and Mountain Harbour Inn & Hiker Hostel, followed by the best post-hike meal at The Kitchen—exactly what we needed after 15 incredible miles. This trip had it all—views, wildflowers, adventure, and a memory that will last a lifetime.
