In these modern times, public speaking is evolving so rapidly that it's now accepted that politicians don't wear a jacket and appear in a long-sleeved shirt without a tie. Below, I'm going to share 7 public speaking techniques, taken from our Modern Public Speaking course, that you'll need to apply if you want to speak in public like an expert and inspire, move, or persuade a specific audience to take action. Technique 1. Define the ultimate goal of your presentation. Technique 2. Gather valuable material for your specific audience. Technique 3. Design an easy-to-remember structure. Technique 4. Memorize the key moments of your presentation. Technique 5. Practice delivering your message in its entirety. Technique 6. Make refined adjustments. Technique 7. Deliver your presentation with passion. There are historical records of iconic speeches that moved thousands of people to take specific actions that were decisive for the freedom, justice, and prosperity of their people or their nation. I cite as prominent examples Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and the American liberator Simón Bolívar. Thanks to the power that oratory gave them, these figures managed to captivate, inspire, and persuade thousands of people to fight to achieve a life based on noble ideals. And although oratory is dynamically being updated to adapt to new generations and the use of technology, its essence has not changed, nor will it change, because human beings want to feel taken into account, we want to support the development and prosperity of our families, our nations, and our civilization.
