Repentismo | Tomasita Quiala y Luis Paz | TEDxHabana

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. This ancient folkloric Cuban musical tradition exudes wit, improvisation, and humor. With the dexterity of freestyle hip-hop MC’s Tomasita Quiala and Luis Paz, two of Cuba’s most prominent Repentistas, riff off TEDx subjects suggested by the audience resulting in a highly engaging interactive experience. Tomasita began with improvisation when she unexpectedly participated in a sung controversy. She is considered the queen of Cuban 'repentismo' (improvised sung oral poetry).
