What is the Double Knee Bend, and Should You Teach It? / Olympic Weightlifting Instruction
Should you teach athletes to “scoop” the knee under the bar? Like many things, an idea that seems simple and natural gets taken to extremes when people don’t understand the purpose. The idea of the double knee bend is just the natural mechanism by which the body gets into an effective power position. Instead of arguing about whether or not athletes should be taught this conceptually, I find it more important that they understand their power position and how to move out of it.
