HH Urges Youths to Guard Peace Ahead of Elections

By Justine Akakulubelwa President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on youths to uphold peace by anchoring their lives and work in wisdom and faith. Speaking at the Lusaka Conference Adventist Youth Ministries Big Sabbath, President HICHILEMA said sustainable peace and national progress cannot be achieved through human effort alone, but require God's guidance. President HICHILEMA says youths have a responsibility to jealously guard the peace, unity and stability prevailing in the country, warning that without peace, development and freedoms are at risk. He said the call for peace is particularly important as the country heads to the August 13 General Election. Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA has commended the SDA youths in Lusaka Conference for dedicating themselves to peace-building and community service, particularly their efforts to support the less privileged. President HICHILEMA, who has donated a bus to support the youths' community service initiatives, has pledged government support for their work and urged them to inspire more young people to serve society. And Southern Zambia Union Conference President VANNY MUNYUMBWE said the church is committed to praying for leaders and supporting efforts that promote national development, peace and stability. Dr. MUNYUMBWE has commended the government for expanding access to education, strengthening community development and investing in infrastructure. He said the Seventh-day Adventist Church will continue partnering with the government through education, health care, humanitarian service and the proclamation of the gospel. Dr. MUNYUMBWE has also urged young people to make prayer a priority, saying even amid busy schedules, it pays to make time for God. #HakaindeHichilema #YouthForPeace #BigSabbath #SDA #FaithAndUnity #ZNBCNews
