HH Announces Namwala Development Projects

By Angela Hanunka President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the Chitongo Livestock Centre, which is undergoing rehabilitation in Namwala District, will soon be operational. President HICHILEMA says the facility will provide veterinary services to livestock farmers in the district and improve animal health management. He says strengthening livestock services is important in increasing productivity and supporting farmers' livelihoods. The President states that the government will continue constructing dams in the area to support irrigation and livestock farming. President HICHILEMA was speaking at Chitongo Grounds in Namwala District during a community engagement. He also disclosed that he has directed the Road Development Agency –RDA- to construct a roundabout on the Monze-Niko Road to improve road safety and reduce accidents. President HICHILEMA said the government will also construct a bridge linking Namwala and Itezhi-Tezhi districts to improve connectivity and help prevent loss of lives. On agriculture, President HICHILEMA said the government wants more farmers to benefit from the Farmer Input Support Programme –FISP-. He said measures have been put in place to ensure farmers receive payment within two days after delivering their produce to the Food Reserve Agency. Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA has urged residents of Namwala District to reject political violence, saying there is no room for violence in Zambia's democratic system. He also called on UPND members to remain united and support all party candidates, saying he does not support any independent candidates.
