Mar del Plata, la Perla del Atlántico🚶| Argentina AR | Constitución-La Perla (Walking Tour) 🎥 [4K]🌊
🏖️ Join us on this journey along the Mar del Plata Coast, the most beautiful on the Argentine Atlantic coast! 🗺️ We start our walk at the roundabout of Av. Constitución and F.U. Camet, where we see the monument “Alas de la Patria” by sculptor Wilfredo Viladrich and architect Luis E. Boiso, erected in tribute to Argentine Aeronautics, inaugurated in 1973. 🎈 Constitución Avenue, one of the city’s most historic avenues. Nicknamed the “avenue of noise,” it drew thousands of young people at the end of the 20th century, who after sunset gathered there to enjoy Mar del Plata’s nightlife. Today, this avenue has become a nerve center of commercial, gastronomic, and recreational activity, visited daily by thousands of people from all over the city. 🏛 We continue along the coast to the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Province of Buenos Aires (Museo MAR), inaugurated on December 27, 2013 with the exhibition “La ola POP,” a show that recreates the spirit of ’60s pop art in Argentina curated by Rodrigo Alonso. The artist Marta Minujin prepared for the museum opening a huge sea lion 11 meters high made with more than 50,000 alfajor wrappers. 🍽 Behind the museum, at the “firefighters’ little field,” we find the MAR Gastronomic Foodtruck Walk, where locals and visitors delight in the gastronomic offerings there. 🚴 We continue our walk along the coast on a beautiful spring day where locals and visitors enjoy this lovely coastal scenery walking, running, riding bicycles, rollers, or sipping some mate and delighting in the most beautiful landscape of Argentina’s beaches. 🏖 We pass by Cardiel and Bahía Bonita beaches, two classics of the north. The city is gradually becoming more accessible for people with reduced mobility. You will see people doing handbike and also some beaches with ramps and accessible exits. ⛪ We also come across a historical building of the city, the Saturnino Unzué Institute and Church, where an orphanage once operated. It was inaugurated in 1910 by the French architect Louis Faure‑Dujarric and built by Mauricio Cremonte in the Neo‑Byzantine style. In 1910, the pulpit won the first international design prize, awarded in Seville. Sisters Concepción Unzué de Casares and María de los Remedios Unzué de Alvear ordered the construction of the building and later donated it in 1911 to the national government. On March 9, 1989, the Oratory was declared a National Historic Monument. In 1990 the orphanage was declared of Tourist Interest by the National Tourism Secretariat and two years later it was decreed a Provincial Historic Monument. On May 16, 1997 the entire building was declared a National Historic Monument. Today it is in a regrettable state of abandonment :( despite the beauty of this city the care of its heritage is not one of its strong points and it is very common to see historic and emblematic buildings disappear from one day to the next. 🍪 We continue our tour passing by the former Havanna alfajor factory, one of the city’s emblematic buildings and where we can enjoy the classic Mar del Plata alfajores. 🏖 Further along we come across the La Perla beach complex, a historic neighborhood and an emblematic beach located on the northern coast of the city. The neighborhood is one of the oldest and is characterized by its cliffs and a unique topography. The visual artist and architect Clorindo Testa, in association with architects Juan Genoud and Osvaldo Álvarez Rojas, won in 1985 the first prize in a national competition for the urban intervention of the coastal area of the La Perla neighborhood. The construction proceeded with difficulty, but even so the complex could be inaugurated in 1989. 🌳 Nearing the end of our tour and opposite the La Perla complex we’ll see Plaza España which besides having green areas, playgrounds and sports sections, houses the Natural Sciences Museum and one of Mar del Plata’s postcard sights, the Monument to Cervantes, a sculptural work by Argentine sculptor, painter, draftsman and archaeologist Hidelberg Ferrino, in commemoration of the centenary of the founding of the city. 📸 I hope you enjoyed this tour of one of the most beautiful cities of ARGENTINA!!! 💬 Leave your comment if you know the area, if you plan to visit it or if you’d like to see more tours like this. 📌 Don’t forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE for more 4K walking tours around Argentina and the World!!!
