This Log Made Me Regret My Sawmill... New Winner Drawn

We had to redraw the winner… but first this log almost broke me. Today started with one of the heaviest Southern Yellow Pine logs we’ve put on the sawmill—and it pushed the Norwood LM30 Portable Sawmill to its limits. Cutting 1/2” x 12” lumber for a job should’ve been simple… but this log had other plans. Between the weight, size, and constant struggle moving it, I started feeling something I didn’t expect… real buyer’s remorse. With summer picking up and orders stacking, it’s becoming clear—we may have outgrown this mill. It’s got me seriously thinking about stepping up to a full hydraulic setup. We also dive back into the Range Road Hydraulic Board Edger and show why it’s one of the best upgrades for a sawmill on a budget.
