Winter in the Hoh Rainforest: Exploring the Hall of Mosses, Spruce Trail & Hoh River Trail | 2024

Our journey begins amidst the lush greenery of the Hoh Rainforest, a beautiful place where ancient trees stretch their moss-draped arms toward the skies. First, we set foot on the enchanting Hall of Mosses Trail. This gentle 0.8-mile loop leads us through a cathedral of towering old-growth Sitka spruce, their branches adorned with delicate veils of moss. As sunlight filters through the canopy, we tread along the forest floor, marveling at the intricate tapestry of the mosses that surround us. Next, we venture onto the Spruce Nature Trail, a 1.2-mile loop that winds through both ancient and new growth forests. Alongside Taft Creek and the mighty Hoh River, we encounter towering hemlocks and trail’s path, which invites us to wander freely among the moss covered trees. Our final stop in Hoh Rainforest is the scenic Hoh River Trail where the most beautiful moss covered spruce and hemlock surround us as we follow the sounds of the Hoh River. After an amazing day in the Hoh Rainforest, we find solace at the cozy Hoh Valley Cabins. Nestled among the trees, these cabins offer a quiet refuge from the day’s adventures. The crackling fireplace warms our souls as we relax and reflect on our time in Olympic National Park.
