Cross it with holy water. See a banana? That's practically diabetes." And so sits this man. He weighs 86 kilograms. He rides 12 hours a week. He suffers. He eats lettuce leaves with chicken breast. In the evening, he snorts peanut butter like a drug addict, because his psyche is already failing him. During VO2 interval training, he sees a tunnel before his eyes, his legs feel like two stools, and at home at 11 PM, he opens the fridge and starts destroying everything that isn't nailed down. And then he's surprised: "Andrey, I don't understand. I'm in a deficit. Why am I not losing weight?" That's because the body isn't a calculator from Auchan. It doesn't work like this: "Minus 500 calories, minus belly fat." The body is a cunning biological machine. And when you start chronically underfeeding it, especially in cycling, it doesn't say, "Oh, the boss wants to get leaner, I'll help him." No. It says, "Okay. Looks like hunger has set in. We need to shut off everything unnecessary immediately. Metabolism down. Energy down. Mood down. Testosterone – goodbye. Legs – in the trash." And today I want to recount a very interesting episode of the Roadman Cycling Podcast. The host told us how he lost 7 kilograms in 12 weeks. From 86 to 79. But that's not the most interesting part. It's that he ate more than ever in his life. He didn't count calories. He didn't spend time in MyFitnessPal like an accountant.
