Training Session - first saddle 3 year old mare
Here is a video of Mia, 3 year old mare. She came to the owner as a yearling from the Colville Washington reservation herd. She has been with us almost 2 weeks in this video. Tom worked on getting her used to having the long lines around her feet and over her body. He used them around the girth area so she could feel something around her belly and still move out. At a walk the horse can process what is going on. When speed is added they get to learn to focus and not just react. It is a process to get some horses to this point without having a issue. She came to the owner from the wild and she has worked on getting her familiar with a domestic lifestyle plus getting through the loss of Mia having a baby at such a young age. She has been with us a month and yesterday started to neck rein in her training session. She looks forward to getting out and learn what will be her job for the day.
